Education: Foundation phase

We believe that early education lays the foundation for lifelong learning. Our approach is holistic – we aim not only to develop the academic abilities of our learners but also to nurture their social, emotional, physical and creative growth.
We understand that children learn best through a combination of structured lessons and play-based activities. Therefore our curriculum integrates both to ensure a well-rounded development.
An exciting part of our program is the integration of technology to support learning. Our learners receive regular videos designed to help them understand and complete the homework independently. This empowers them to take ownership of their learning, foster confidence and encourage self-directed study.
Our ultimate goal is to create a loving, engaging and supportive environment where every child feels valued and inspired to explore and discover.
We are committed to developing not just academically capable students, but well-rounded individuals ready to face future challenges.
Self-care one of the abilities that assist learners that neatness plays a role not only on themselves but also the environment. Gradually we teach ownership and responsibility, as it will play a crucial roll as they grow up an teach them selflove is important.

Education: Intermediary phase

The Intermediate Phase: Building Foundations, Fostering Growth (Grades 4 -7)

Welcome to the Intermediate Phase at Anchor Independent Academy! This crucial stage, spanning Grades 4-7 marks a significant and exciting transition for our learners. It’s where the foundational skills acquired in the Foundation Phase are deepened and expanded upon, laying the essential groundwork for more complex learning in the Senior Phase.

A Period of Deeper Learning and Discovery:

In the Intermediate Phase, our curriculum, meticulously aligned with the CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) guidelines, shifts towards a more subject-specific and analytical approach. Learners begin to delve into:

* Languages: Strengthening literacy skills in Home Language and First Additional Language, focusing on comprehension, expression, and critical analysis.
* Mathematics: Building on numeracy, introducing more advanced concepts in numbers, operations, patterns, functions, space, shape, measurement, and data handling.
* Natural Sciences & Technology: Exploring the wonders of the natural world, scientific inquiry, and the principles of technology through engaging experiments and projects.
* Social Sciences (History & Geography): Understanding human societies, cultures, historical events, and geographical concepts, fostering a sense of global citizenship and critical awareness.

Our dedicated and experienced teachers guide students through this phase, encouraging active participation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning. We aim to ignite curiosity and develop a genuine love for lifelong learning.

Beyond the Classroom: Holistic Development:

While academic rigor is paramount, the Intermediate Phase at Anchor Independent Academy also places a strong emphasis on the holistic development of each learner. We foster:

* Increased Independence and Responsibility: Encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and personal organisation.
* Social and Emotional Growth: Developing communication skills, collaboration, empathy, and resilience through group activities and a supportive classroom environment.
* Extramural Engagement: Providing a wide range of sporting, cultural, and leadership opportunities that allow learners to explore new talents, build character, and forge lasting friendships.

We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically capable but also confident, responsible, and prepared to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future. We look forward to partnering with you in your child’s exciting journey through the Intermediate Phase.
